MDC ENGINEERING

MDC ENGINEERING

Hall 3 – Booth E71-03

#Rubber #Saltbath #Sustainability #Innovation #Vulcanization #Engineering

ABOUT US :

MDC ENGINEERING designs and markets production lines for the continuous vulcanization of extruded elastomer profiles.

The innovation of the VulcanoClean® vulcanizing line (LCM: Liquid Curing Media) lies in its EcoClean process, an ecological revolution in the field that recycles salts and treats fumes and washing water in a closed circuit, for lines designed for the continuous extrusion of rubber profiles (EPDM, NR, CR, SBR, etc.).

More about the VulcanoClean system:

In addition to supplying VulcanoClean® LCM lines, MDC ENGINEERING can also adapt the VulcanoClean® process to existing LCM salt bath lines. MDC ENGINEERING also guarantees optimized installation of its lines on customer sites.

Salt bath technology is recognized worldwide as the best process for continuous vulcanization of elastomer profiles, not only for its heat transfer capacity, temperature homogeneity and ease of use, but also for the quality of the resulting surface finish and mechanical properties, and for its ability to vulcanize all polymer blends.

Since MDC Engineering S.a.r.l., in cooperation with Durferrit® GmbH, revolutionized salt bath lines to make them extremely modern, high-performance and safe, many new applications have emerged. What’s more, thanks to new peroxide compounds that can generally only be vulcanized in a salt bath, productivity levels unimaginable 20 years ago are now being achieved.

Thanks to the VulcanoClean® process, both the environmental and energy aspects, which twenty years ago were a weak point compared with competing technologies such as hot air + microwaves or hot air shock systems, are no longer an issue. Allowing the elimination of pollutant emissions and mixed electric/gas heating by means of immersed heat exchangers, this process offers the best energy efficiency and environmental technology.

In addition, MDC Engineering offers a range of services:

  • Consulting: we help you design and cost your projects
  • Technical assistance: we define all the specifications for each component of a production line in its entirety, then select and choose the appropriate suppliers with you.
  • Control and supervision: MDC Engineering offers a production control and monitoring system, which enables all parameters to be read and recorded, and monitored qualitatively over time. It can also be used to create global production recipes and statistical reports.
  • After-sales service / remote maintenance: enables our customers to receive technical assistance, regardless of distance, time or place, to diagnose any breakdown or anomaly, and to make remote program updates according to the customer’s choice, after start-up.

EcoClean

MDC Engineering offers a unique solution to the ever-increasing demands for ecological and industrial performance: the EcoClean, designed to efficiently wash, cool and recycle extruded profiles.

Efficient washing and cooling:

  • Intensive cleaning by spray or immersion,
  • Optimum cooling,
  • And above all, 100% recovery of entrained salt thanks to reverse waterfall technology.

During the vulcanization process, the highly salted wash water is not wasted, but concentrated, re-injected into the SWV salt furnace and purified by evaporation.

The benefits of EcoClean :

  • Up to 95% salt savings,
  • Water consumption reduced by 20 to 40 times,
  • A zero discharge process for clean production.

Treatment of vulcanising fumes – WWTC 3

MDC Engineering is responding to today’s environmental challenges with a high-performance fume treatment module.

The waste air treatment module collects :

  • Continuous fumes mixed with salt vapours throughout the line, with a downward return to avoid any risk of ignition
  • Continuous discharge of salt vapors from the EcoClean
  • Periodically, salt water from wet scrubbers and from parts and filter washing for evaporative treatment of any remaining waste wate

The benefits of MDC Engineering

  • Self-cleaning cyclone, requiring only a few minutes of manual washing per week
  • Easy integration into existing lines
  • Environmental enhancement through reuse of wash water

In addition to these actions, numerous initiatives to contribute to energy sobriety are underway, such as the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of our new building.

NEW INNOVATION

Traditionally, the production of a bi- or tri-material cap requires several stages, making the process costly and complex. With E-IMA, ERMO is simplifying this process by integrating an assembly technique directly into the mould. This innovation makes it possible to combine all the stages in a single mould, thereby improving productivity and quality management.

By creating a technology that enables several parts to be assembled directly in the mould, ERMO is effectively ‘replacing’ 3 tools in a single mould. On the one hand, this innovation saves an assembly stage and its associated costs (conveying, storage, etc.), and on the other, electrification will save electricity consumption and boost productivity thanks to a more secure, variation-free process. With E-IMA, the gain in cycle time is estimated at +13%. Different polymer materials can also be processed at the same time on the same mould.

E-IMA is an innovation that marks ERMO’s commitment to a greener, more sustainable industry, and is also a response to the challenges faced by its customers. It’s also a commitment to the future, to combating energy waste from our industrial facilities, and to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.

Benefits of E-IMA:

  • 100% electric technology
  • Productivity gains
  • Flexibility thanks to easy adjustment of the closure
  • Energy savings
  • Easy maintenance
  • Very low energy consumption

Discover the latest METRAVIB DMA+series capabilities including new crack growth testing follow up by digital video and fully automated DMA testing with Xpander.

High force DMA+ series

The DMA+ serie instruments (DMA+300, DMA+1000 and DMA+2000) is the fruit of a constant benchmark product in the polymer and elastomer industry since 1996, and cooperative work with a number of university partners and industrial customers.

These are high end dynamic testing instruments based on an innovative concept of a one-piece high-rigidity test frame. They are dedicated to the accurate analysis of the viscoelastic properties of most advanced materials.

Xpander

Xpander is an automated specimen handling system dedicated to the DMA+ series Dynamic Mechanical Analyzers. Xpander allows DMA test campaigns to run continuously around the clock and autonomously without any operator intervention. Xpander’s flexibility makes it possible to accommodate with material specimens of various shapes and sizes.

DMA+300

Taking advantage of Metravib Material Testing’s 50 years of expertise, the DMA+ series are dynamic testing instruments based on an innovative concept of one-piece high rigidity test frame, allowing the analysis of the viscoelastic properties of most advanced materials and offering the largest stiffness and frequency analysis ranges, along with first-class ergonomics.

The uniqueness of the METRAVIB DMA+300 comes from the technology used for its electrodynamic shaker. Using air bearings, the DMA+300 has an unrivaled ability to characterize materials with very low modulus, even liquid, right through to materials with very high modulus, making the instrument perfectly versatile.
