ABOUT US :
FuturaMat is an innovative company specializing in the design, formulation and manufacture of bio-based and biodegradable materials. Founded 20 years ago, FuturaMat supports manufacturers in the development of eco-responsible, high-performance solutions adapted to the technical and regulatory requirements of their sector.
A clear mission:
Build sustainable industrial strategies, by valuing renewable raw materials while reducing the environmental impact of finished products. Thanks to an approach based on eco-design, life cycle analysis and carbon footprint, FuturaMat allows its customers to concretely address the ecological transition.
A complete offer, FuturaMat is involved in all stages of a project:
- Co-construction of the specifications: identification of technical, environmental and economic expectations, analysis of the project’s objectives, tailor-made technical solutions and adapted regulatory monitoring
- Eco-design: experience in life cycle assessment (LCA), calculation of carbon footprints, writing of eco-profiles and training in responsible marketing, in order to build a coherent, reliable product strategy that complies with European law.
- Tailor-made formulation of materials adapted to the desired properties (flexibility, resistance, barrier, etc.)
- Characterization and laboratory testing
- Industrialization, with validation of industrial batches and connection with high-volume production partners
- Assistance with certification: support towards certification
A dedicated industrial infrastructure:
- Extrusion workshop (Clextral BC21 & BC45)
- Densification workshop (Kahl press, turbomixer)
- Mechanical and thermal testing laboratory
Unique skills: 20 years of experience in bio-based materials, mastery of standards and regulations European network of partners, guaranteeing proximity and responsiveness
Concrete applications:
- Horticultural pots: 100% bio-based, compostable,
- Tree protection sleeves: biodegradable in soil, UV and weather resistant Biodegradable
- tomato clips, stable in humid environments.
The materials developed by FuturaMat have on average 20 to 30% less CO₂ emissions compared to fossil resins. The company guides its customers in choosing the best options to combine technical performance and carbon footprint reduction.

An approach upstream of the design
The environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle must be anticipated.
We know how to take it into account right from the research and development phase of a product, which allows us to find the best balance between environmental, technical and economic requirements.
Thanks to our know-how, we have developed materials that can be included in an eco-design approach.
- Identify the challenges for the company/product
- Environmental assessment of a reference situation
- Search for eco-design ideas
- Help with the decision
- Comparative environmental assessment
- Communication/ information
As an example: One of our BioCeres reference is used for the manufacture of thermoformed horticultural pots. The carbon footprint is 43% lower than for a polypropylene pot. This reference is also 100% bio-based and compostable

From the definition of the specifications to the storage of the extruded plastic granules, through the creation of customized bioplastics or the certification of your product, FuturaMat offers its clients support adapted to their needs to help them realize their projects.
Our R&D department at your service
Over the years, our Research and Development department has developed a range of materials with different characteristics: biobased, compostable, biodegradable, soft touch, made from vegetable fibers, etc. This allows us to offer you turnkey and customized solutions that meet your specifications.
As an example :
- Development of a sleeve for tree protection
- Biodegradable material developed and produced by FuturaMat
- Certification of the formulation and the finished product by TÜV Austria for the « OK biodegadable Soil » category

FuturaMat offers complete support at each stage of your project:
- Co-construction of the specifications Identification of technical/regulatory issues/ environmental aspects of the project
- R&D support State of the art Formulations Customized test plan Characterizations
- Industrialization of a product Industrial batch validation Economic Approach Connection with « High volume » partners
- Certification assistance Identification of the right certifications for your needs Support with approved organizations.
- In-house production department Extruded Material Manufacturing (flow rate between 80 kg/h and 125 kg/h) Manufacture of densified pellets (Flow rate between 100 kg/ and 400 kg/h)
- Environmental performance Eco-design strategy Life Cycle Assessment Carbon footprint

Protecting the environment is not a constraint but a key factor in competitiveness ! This belief is still alive and established at FuturaMat.
After all, the innovations required to use alternative methods and materials help companies to stand out from their competitors and improve their performance! The objective of economic development is always at the forefront.
Our team is always ready to listen to FuturaMat’s partners: customers, suppliers, industrialists, laboratories, and academics… It’s a practice that’s deeply rooted in our organization, where networking is essential.
FuturaMat is a committed player in the ecological transition, anchored locally thanks to its historic partnership with the Coopérative Agricole de la Tricherie, which carries its territorial roots and its highly structured CSR approach.
NEW INNOVATION
Innovative Development of Compressed Materials
At FuturaMat, we design tailor-made formulations to create compressed granules that meet exact client specifications—density, size, moisture content, and more.
Using advanced compound blending techniques, we ensure a homogeneous mix with controlled moisture levels, ready for high-precision granulation.
Our industrial granule press transforms the blend into consistent, high-performance granules. Throughout the process, we monitor key parameters like density and hygrometry to guarantee quality and reliability.
Post-production, granules are sorted, cleaned, and packaged with care. Each batch is handled with strict environmental standards, minimizing waste and preventing any material loss.
Innovation drives every stage—from formulation to final delivery.
