BIOTEC GmbH develops and produces sustainable biopolymer compounds made from renewable resources such as native starches. Items made with our materials return through biodegradation to biomass hereby completing the natural life cycle.
Throughout the years BIOTEC has developed a comprehensive and top-level compounding expertise that enables us to develop grades suitable for innovative applications. BIOTEC materials are made from renewable resources, using non-food GMO-Free crops to harvest their starch and sugars to develop our biopolymer compounds.
As a pioneer in biobased and biodegradable compounds, BIOTEC research focuses on both environmental and technical performance:
- Enabling converters’ shift to biobased material by developing compounds that fit in their existing plastic converting equipment
- Increasing the share of biobased material up to 100%
- Developing the use of new types of starches to enhance sustainability and technical qualities such as food contact, in compliance with regulations.

BIOTEC is a leading producer of compounds for blown film extrusion. It is wide range of grades allows converters to produce films that can combine transparency, mechanical performance and biodegradability with a biobased content up to to 100%
BIOTEC has developed dedicated grades, tasteless and odour-free complying with food contact regulations
BIOTEC is also tackling the emerging market of
- fruit and vegetable nets with dedicated grades providing strength and perfect shelf life
- tree protection nets and tubes, to avoid plastic waste in forests and shield shrubs from deer and game damage
Biotec is now granted ECOVADIS silver medal.
All BIOTEC resins are OK Compost certified by TUV and OK Compost HOME for selected grades.
The whole facility is ISO 9001:2015 (quality), ISO 14001:2015 (environment) and ISO 50001:2018 (energy) certified
