ABOUT US :
Kepplair Evolution is a French aerospace company specialized in the development of multirole aircraft dedicated to civil protection and special missions. The company focuses on converting proven regional platforms, notably the ATR 72, into cost-efficient and operationally optimized solutions. This approach significantly reduces technical risk, certification timelines and development costs compared to clean-sheet aircraft programs.
Kepplair Evolution combines engineering expertise, industrial partnerships and operational feedback from firefighting professionals to design aircraft that meet real mission requirements. Its flagship program, the KEPPLAIR 72, is positioned in the middle-class air tanker segment and is designed to deliver high performance, reliability and controlled operating costs.
A core principle of the company’s strategy is multirole optimization. Aircraft are engineered to be rapidly reconfigurable between firefighting, cargo and medevac missions, allowing operators to maximize fleet utilization throughout the year and improve return on investment.
By leveraging an existing certified airframe with a global maintenance network, Kepplair Evolution ensures simplified support, pilot familiarity and strong logistical resilience. The company’s objective is to provide scalable, economically sustainable and interoperable aircraft solutions capable of renewing aging fleets in Europe and worldwide, while adapting to evolving operational doctrines and climate-related challenges.

The KEPPLAIR 72 is a next-generation multirole firefighting aircraft based on the ATR 72 platform. Positioned in the middle-class air tanker segment, it carries up to 7,500 liters (1,980 USG) of water or retardant with a segmented gravity-drop system optimized for precision and efficiency. Designed for rapid deployment from conventional runways, it combines firefighting performance with cargo and medevac capability, ensuring high annual utilization and controlled operating costs from 2027 onward.

Forest protection is central to climate strategy: forests act as major carbon sinks and biodiversity reservoirs. Rapid aerial response to wildfires is therefore a direct lever for decarbonation. The KEPPLAIR 72 enhances early containment capacity with high sortie rates, precision drops and extended range, limiting burned areas and preventing massive CO₂ releases. Its turboprop efficiency and multirole utilization also optimize fuel consumption per mission, supporting a more sustainable aerial firefighting model
NEW INNOVATION
The KEDS (Kepplair Evolution Delivery System) is the integrated firefighting system of the KEPPLAIR 72. It results from a strategic collaboration between the IMFT (Institut de Mécanique des Fluides de Toulouse), providing advanced fluid dynamics modeling and drop optimization, and Trotter Controls, a leading manufacturer of aerial drop doors. This alliance combines scientific validation and proven industrial expertise to deliver a precise, segmented, gravity-fed system optimized for efficiency, reliability and operational performance.
