The Brand

Founded in 1984, Serge LESAGE became the first specialist in the manufacture of custom-made contemporary rugs. They established a design office dedicated to special projects and provided various online tools for color customization, accessible to all.

Serge LESAGE rugs are entirely handmade. They are the result of a deep cultural collaboration, where contemporary designs meets artisanal skill, respecting both traditional savoir-faire and environmental standards. Each collection tells a unique and beautiful story. Every rug is one-of-a-kind, reflecting the unique interpretation and craftsmanship of each person involved in its creation.

Traditional Techniques and High Quality Materials

All their rugs are meticulously handcrafted using traditional techniques such as hand-knotting, hand-weaving, and hand-tufting.

Hand-Knotted Rugs: This ancient technique, virtually unchanged for centuries, involves crafting rugs entirely by hand. This method ensures exceptional durability and beauty.

Hand-Woven Rugs: Similar to tapestry weaving, this process is performed on horizontal looms, allowing for a wide variety of designs and stunning creations.

Hand-Tufted Rugs: Created on a pre-drawn cotton canvas, this technique offers great design freedom. The weaver’s and carver’s skilled gestures impart unique beauty and character to each rug.

They exclusively use natural materials, including New Zealand wool, Tencel, and increasingly less viscose.
