VINSOBRES WINES

Vinsobres Wines

PRESENTATION

Sonce 2006, Vinsobres is recognized as a cru of the southern Rhône Valley since 2006 for its red wine. The 1375 hectares of vineyard covering 7km are perched at an altitude from 200 to 450 meters, on terraces. Vinsobres is one of the highest altitude appellations in the Côtes du Rhône region. A very particular microclimate protects the village and its amphitheatre of vines. Vinsobres enjoys an unusual but very favorable geographic location, making it a southern Cru with distinctly northern characteristics.
Wines from Vinsobres are characterized by their freshness and delicate tannin. Made mainly from Grenache and Syrah, the wines benefit from an excellent balance between tannins, acidity, spices and red fruits aromas. The palate is balanced, some fatness and roundness coat the tannins and contribute to a feeling of volume and generosity.

DOMAINE SERRE BESSON

Domaine Serre Besson

PRESENTATION

Situated on the hillside less than a kilometer from the village of Vinsobres, Domaine Serre Besson comprises 4,7 hectares at an altitude of 250-350 meters facing south. The vines are planted between two ravines with numerous natural springs well-protected from high temperatures by forest to the north. The majority of the Syrah is planted high on the hillside abutting the forest with other parcels of Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre lower on the hillside. The terroir is a mix of clay, limestone, sand and river rock. In 2016, they began converting to organic production,a and have been certified organic in 2019. They limit production by cutting grapes and pruning round grapes clusters for deeper color and greater concentration. The grapes are harvested by hand, transferred into small 20 kilo bins, sorted by hand, destemmed and transferred into gravity fed cement fermentation tanks. Parcels and varietals are fermented separately for optimal blending. Their Syrah is aged in French oak barrels.
