Descartes Développement & Innovation (DDI) is the information and promotion association of the Sustainable City Technopole at the heart of Cité Descartes, located in the East of the Paris Region, a rapidly growing innovation area in France. DDI also operates a Fablab and an incubator as part of its scope of operations.
A Sustainable City refers to an urban space at the crossroads of the economic, social and environmental pillars necessary for sustainable development. It simultaneously meets citizens’ expectations in terms of comfort, services and resilience, as well as environmental challenges and the needs of future generations.
Within Paris-Vallée de la Marne territory, DDI facilitates serendipitous connections between academia, institutions and businesses with a state-of-the-art research ecosystem in the establishment of a Sustainable City.
In addition, DDI has established partnerships with corporates to create collaborations that promote seamless networking, experimentation and open innovation.
Supporting the policy of regional development based on innovation, the Technopole Descartes promotes cross-fertilization and offers innovative companies, whatever their level of maturity, personalised support: project engineering, assistance with public and private financing, ecological transition, animation of networks, organization of scientific conferences, etc.

Incubateur Descartes (labelled EU-Business Innovation Centre) is a support service to help in the creation of innovative startups with high technological added value (including deeptech): coaching, mentoring, training, access to funding, free access to a Fablab, events, office space.
With our partners at the University, you can:
– Work directly with researchers, for a collaborative or EU project, exploit a patent/software/equipment, create a startup, ask for expertise
– Access technological platforms
– Recruit a PhD student
– Create/be associated with a research chair
