about us :

Ideally located in the Western Channel, in the North of the Biscaye Bay and close to the Celtic Sea, Brest is at the core of several dozens of Gigawatts of current and future offshore wind developments. The activities are operated by a company shared by the Brittany Region, the City and the CCI.

The port in figures:
Traffic: 700 port of calls for 2.7 mT
Berth: 4 300m lenght; 3 XXL dry docks (from 225m to 440m) for complex vessels (LNG..)
Oil and gas import & storage for all Western Brittany
Import/export of agri-food

A terminal dedicated to MRE

Brest has anticipated the growth of the Maritime Renewable Energies with the creation of a new terminal since 2013, with the support of Brittany Region and European funds. This infrastructure is made of a heavy quay of 400 meters, and an industrial area of 40 hectares near shore, mainly under operation. It is adapted for pilot farms and small commercial farms (up to 250MW)

The offshore wind future

In order to answer the upcoming floating offshore wind needs, port of Brest, together with its partner port of Lorient, has launched the InFloW program (Innovation for Floating Wind industry), focusing on:

– Heavy components import capacities

– Industrial areas reinforcement

– Heavy load float-off capacities

– Floater wet storage capacity within Brest harbour

This program aims to increase the current capacities of the port infrastructures to meet the volume and size required by the offshore wind industry. This is made possible with the funding of the French ADEME agency and the DIOL (Develop Innovative Offshore Logistics) European project.

In addition, DIOL program helps the port to implement innovative solutions, such as quay decarbonized power supply, H2 production and logistics, and photovoltaic energy production.

about us :

Port Atlantique La Rochelle is the 6th largest French port. It is a deep sea port on the Atlantic coast and hosts most large vessels 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

It deals with a versatile and diversified traffic of goods. As part of its dynamics for the benefit of the ecological transition, an example of this, is its adaptation, to be a Logistics Hub for the offshore wind energy.

This commitment is also reflected in actions to reduce CO2 by promoting modal shift by rail.

Innovation, one of the pillars of its strategy, is demonstrated by the development of digital tools and the creation of a Port Innovation Operator for its use and that of its customers and partners.

Accompanied by the port’s businesses and communities, Port Atlantique La Rochelle aims to be responsive, sustainable and intelligent.
