Import/export of agri-food

A terminal dedicated to MRE

Brest has anticipated the growth of the Maritime Renewable Energies with the creation of a new terminal since 2013, with the support of Brittany Region and European funds. This infrastructure is made of a heavy quay of 400 meters, and an industrial area of 40 hectares near shore, mainly under operation. It is adapted for pilot farms and small commercial farms (up to 250MW)

The offshore wind future

In order to answer the upcoming floating offshore wind needs, port of Brest, together with its partner port of Lorient, has launched the InFloW program (Innovation for Floating Wind industry), focusing on:

– Heavy components import capacities

– Industrial areas reinforcement

– Heavy load float-off capacities

– Floater wet storage capacity within Brest harbour

This program aims to increase the current capacities of the port infrastructures to meet the volume and size required by the offshore wind industry. This is made possible with the funding of the French ADEME agency and the DIOL (Develop Innovative Offshore Logistics) European project.

In addition, DIOL program helps the port to implement innovative solutions, such as quay decarbonized power supply, H2 production and logistics, and photovoltaic energy production.
