OUR innovation
Bordeaux Metropole is President of the Cities Coalition for Digital Rights (2026 – 2030), a network of over 60 cities world-wide, committed to putting human rights at the heart of the digital age.
OUR ECO-RESPONSIBLE COMMITMENTS
Bordeaux Métropole pursues a responsible digital strategy in line with the mutualisation of information systems across 19 cities, including Bordeaux. The objective is to build and maintain a digital environment that is mindful of its social, societal, environmental, and ethical impacts.
In line with the law on Reducing the Environmental Footprint of the Digital Economy (REEN), Bordeaux Métropole’s responsible digital strategy was approved by the Metropolitan Council on 29 September 2023. The strategy is designed to ensure that digital development is environmentally, socially, societally and ethically responsible. This comprehensive approach is directed towards all local stakeholders, including residents, employees, schoolchildren, businesses, and associations, and is orchestrated around key areas that assert strong intentions.
Bordeaux Métropole’s commitment stems from strong convictions:
- a desire to be active stakeholders and to work together to implement a digital strategy that is chosen, not imposed
- a desire for greater autonomy and sovereignty in designing public policy and producing and using data
- a desire to promote ethics and transparency in data processing, in response to the challenges of artificial intelligence and new virtuel environments
- A desire to reach out beyond the metropolitan area to create new standards and common ground at local, national, European and international levels
