GRENOBLE ALPES METROPOLE

GRENOBLE ALPES METROPOLE

#Metropole #Innovation #Pionnier #Transitions #Experiment #SME’sSupport

about us :

Located in the South-East of France, in the heart of the Alps, Grenoble-Alpes Métropole is a local authority covering 49 municipalities and nearly 450,000 inhabitants. It is in charge of many public policies and services that are crucial for territorial transitions : urban planning, mobility, energy, waste management, water, social housing, environment, economic development and technology transfer.

The territory’s acute environmental awareness led to the adoption of the first French Climate, Air, Energy territorial roadmap, in 2005. The great concentration of laboratories of both private and public sectors in industries that are key to smart city development (digital industry, energy, environment, healthtech) also benefits the ecosystem on transition issues. Long term commitment of the territory in the field of transitions were rewarded this year by the choice of Grenoble as 2022 European Green Capital.

Grenoble-Alpes-Métropole is thus experimenting and implementing smart and innovative solutions for the reduction of green house gases, climate adaptation, the use of sustainable buildings and transportation means, the preservation of nature and biodiversity, innovation in environmental practices, the improvement of air quality, the reduction of noise, and the implementation of better waste and water management.

GAM Territory

Between the Chartreuse, Vercors, Belledonne and Taillefer mountains, Grenoble Alpes boasts an unrivaled living environment. The region’s natural parks boast an exceptional ecological and landscape richness, accessible from the heart of the city.

GAM research

Grenoble’s long-term investment in science has paid off: today, the city has become synonymous with innovation. A rich network of science & technology research centers has developed around a handful of internationally-acclaimed large science facilities
