BORDEAUX METROPOLE

BORDEAUX METROPOLE

#smartcity #substainablecity #digitalinclusion #twintransition #innovation #data

about us :

Bordeaux Métropole is a public intermunicipal cooperation establishment (EPCI). It brings together 28 municipalities with more than 800,000 inhabitants, covering an area of 57,828 hectares.
Bordeaux Métropole is involved in the daily lives of its residents: transportation, mobility, housing, urban planning, economic development and employment, nature preservation, water and sanitation management, waste collection and management, digital access, support for cultural and sports events, as well as metropolitan and municipal facilities (schools, stadiums, etc.). All of these actions place the quality and accessibility of metropolitan public services at the top of the priorities for the area.
To align all of these competencies around a structured project that serves everyone, Bordeaux Métropole sets strategic and cross-cutting directions for all public policies implemented to meet its ambitions: being a proximity-oriented, innovative, solidarity-driven, and ecological metropolis.

Fighting against digital divides
Bordeaux Métropole chose to adopt a proactive stance on this issue. Acting as a central coordinator, it aims at amplifying the collective impact of local actions. Besides, it actively participates in various national and international networks to share and discuss best practices and feedbacks from the field.

Innovation enhancing urban thermal comfort for residents.
As part of its strategy for a pleasant digital life in a sustainable city, the Metropolis launched a program in summer 2021, using qualified data analysis, to measure the impact of green spaces, particularly trees, on urban thermal comfort and heat islands.

The digital twin to optimize building energy consumption.
As part of France 2030’s AI acceleration strategy, in collaboration with the Banque des Territoires, Bordeaux Metropolis was awarded in May 2023 the government call for ‘frugal AI demonstrators for energy transition in territories’
