MIRCHIP X is a OEM on-line gas sensor for industrial applications, specifically designed to meet the expectations of integrators, gas system manufacturers, and gas analyzer manufacturers. The module is based on photoacoustic spectroscopy, using mirSense’s patented Quantum Cascade Laser (mid-IR wavelengths).

Targeted molecules are illuminated by a Quantum Cascade Laser at a specific wavelength – one laser per molecule – allowing them to absorn laser energy according to Beer-Lambert’s law. The gases will then expand and compress, creating a sound wave that is easily picked up with a microphone. Leveraging its expertise in QCL design and photoacoustic detection, mirSense has designed a versatile and robust gas sensor capable of reaching sub-ppm level within a few seconds.
