UDUMA is proposing sustainable drinking water services dedicated to rural populations in Africa. Based on the operation and maintenance of rural water infrastructures, the objective is to guarantee a universal and long-term access to drinking water for isolated and underserved communities.
To achieve this, UDUMA has developed an economic model where operations are profitable and thus ensure the sustainability of the service. It requires time, scale, innovation, and resilience but it is possible. The approach includes population awareness, professionalization of local staff, and the introduction of modern technologies and renewable energies.
Uduma was a pioneer and is now supplying 1,5 M people across Burkina Faso, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, and Benin.
