In 1963, several winegrowers in the Sancerre region banded together to create a common tool for the vinification and sale of their wine and thus, Cave des Vins de Sancerre, the only cooperative within the Sancerre appellation, was created. The original values have not changed – solidarity among the growers, sharing expertise and demanding high quality. Today, they count 80 member growers, divided among 12 villages. They continue to perpetuate and expand upon the work of the cooperative’s founders, based on the ethics of a solidarity-based economy.
