S.E.M Hakan AKESSON, Ambassador of Sweden to France
Håkan Åkesson has a degree in economics from Uppsala University in Sweden and is a former student at Ecole nationale d´administration, Paris. He also studied at the University of Montpellier. He started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. Since then he has held various positions in Stockholm and abroad.

He served as Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Swedish Embassy in Singapore from 1998 to 2002 before moving to Ethiopia where he was Ambassador from 2002 to 2005. During this period, he was also accredited to the Sudan and Djibouti. He was then Ambassador to Turkey from 2010 to 2013.

Until his appointment as Sweden’s Ambassador to France, Håkan Åkesson was in Stockholm and served as Director General of Administration at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Before joining the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, he worked at the Ministry of Finance where he was responsible for European affairs at the International Department, then in the Budget Department. Håkan Åkesson has been a member of the board of directors of Swedfund International, a public company providing venture capital to companies in developing countries.
Håkan Åkesson was born in 1961 in Lund, Sweden. He is married and has two children.
